Five steps to making a Digital Family Story
This page is designed to help you select the tools for your project. Just like any craftsman, you need a vision of your final product before you can choose the proper tools for the project.
1. Collection: A collection contains the artifacts created in the past and saved over time. Collections may be newly started or passed on from earlier generations.
2. Design: What is your final production going to look like? Which tools do you need to digitize, produce and publish your project?
3. Digitization: Digitization is the process of converting all the artifacts into a computer readable format.
4. Production: Production is the process of assembling the artifacts and elements and presenting your family story.
5. Publication: The media you choose for publication will determine who can view your story.

Collection
A collection contains the artifacts created in the past and saved over time. Collections may be newly started or passed on from earlier generations. It's from these collections that we draw the artifacts to incorporate into our story.
| Where do we find these collections? | What do the collections contain? | |
|
|
|
The story is in the collection. You just have to find it.

Production Tools |
| The tools used to create your production for the most part will be Editors. Editors are designed to create, alter, enhance, and even publish different elements. No one editor can handle all the elements of your project, so several may be used. |
